F is for Fingers and Toes #A2ZChallenge

“As everyone knows, nothing is sweeter than tiny baby fingers and chubby baby toes.” – Mem Fox

I was barely 3 hours old, when I put all my fingers in my mouth and started sucking them. Seeing this someone commented, “Oh! look at this little hungry duckling”. “She needs a bottle”.

After 2 weeks of my arrival, when my Dadi Dadu were leaving and the byes were being exchanged, I joined my hands with folded fingers. They got so excited and thought I was doing Namaste! At that time I was unaware of the fact that I have hands with fingers on them. But these adults just interpreted my finger movements to what they saw!

However, when I actually realised that I have fingers and toes, I just cannot keep them away. Now I explore them each day. The first time I realised I have toes on my feet, mommy thought I was fascinated with the cartoon character on my socks. She happily announced to everyone that I like the cartoons, but later she realised that I was actually touching the toes of my feet.

Lately, I have become all the more fascinated with my fingers and toes. Sometimes I do a Namaste, and many a time I show my palm as though requesting the people (around me) to not disturb me, as I am trying to sleep. One day I put my fingers in my mouth and then into my Mommy’s mouth. You should have heard her screaming … it was rather scary and funny. 😉

I also suck my fingers when I am hungry. This suckling increases when growth spurts happen. Even after a hearty meal I am hungry and suck my fingers. I also put my hands in my mouth when I am bored and tired. Sometimes when Mommy is asleep and I don’t want to trouble her then too, I suck my fingers to soothe myself.

In the end, you would be surprised to know that my favourite song is on fingers. I just love it and especially when I am very cranky. By the way, one afternoon, Miss A accidentally played this peppy song while talking to some Alexa. Anyways, since then I have started liking this energising song which makes me wiggle waggle and happy too. The lyrics of the song are:

Fingers like to wiggle, waggle,

Right in front of me.

Fingers like to wiggle, waggle,

Right down to the toes.

Fingers like to wiggle, waggle,

Right down through the sides.

Fingers like to wiggle, waggle,

Then fall on my knee.

I hope you enjoy the song as much as I do! It has an extremely catchy tune as well!

As always a super post and so so adorable. Hopefully some people will realize how kids at that age discover their tiny fingers and suck it more during growth spurts. I cant wait to read your posts in this series.

This was one refreshing post to read. Baby accounts are always fun to read. I remember my sons too suckled on the foot thumb for a long long time.

My son had this habit of putting his toes in the mouth. He wasn’t very fond of his fingers but we were forever pulling out his toes from the mouth. Your post made me chuckle.

Aw. Your series reminds me not only of my own kids but also of my own grandkids with whom I’m deeply connected. I didn’t know that sucking fingers signified growth spurts. My eldest grandson was the thumb sucker so we put him on a pacifier mainly to keep him quiet. But then it became a major hurdle to get him off it!

Yes, it can get a little difficult to wean the child from the pacifier. Thanks a lot for visiting by!
