G is for Gym (Play Gym) #A2ZChallenge

I believe in eating what I like and sweating it out in the gym. – Irina Shayk

Do you know that spending time in the gym is one of my favourite things! Oh yes, I go to the gym. Wondering, how come during lockdown I am stepping out for my workouts? Well, I have a personal gym! or better known as a play gym at home. I also have a trainer, none other than Miss A. She teaches me new exercises each day and helps me improve my workout.

The play gym was gifted to me by my uncle and aunty. They wanted me to use it from that very day. So Mommy opened it and set it up for me. Though play gyms can be used as early as day one, but I never really knew what was happening. Having said that I started enjoying my workouts when I turned 3 months.

By 3 months I realised that my gym is a fascinating place. It is an apple-shaped (as told by Miss A) mat with long green leaves. The mat has butterflies, snails and a caterpillar. There are small toys which delight me. These toy mobiles include a pink flower, a bunch of leaves and a bright pink and green coloured bumblebee. The bumblebee is my favourite mobile as when I touch it, it talks back to me by making sweet sounds.

I often hear mommy say, “Baby A is so intelligent. She has learned a lot about textures, grasp and focus.” When she says this I am delighted and want to tell her, “Look, Mommy, I can also follow the toy mobiles, shake them and crinkle the caterpillar’s antlers.”

There are days when I don’t feel like going for a workout. My instructor – Miss A patiently waits for me. But on the days when I do not turn up, Mommy usually finds her sleeping in the gym. The first time we saw her do this, we could not stop laughing. It seemed like a giant trying to fit in. But its totally fine with me. When I can use Miss A’s things then why can’t she use mine!

By doing my workouts daily and religiously I have realised that my sight is becoming better. Not only this, the muscles of my neck, back and tummy also get strong. When I do push-ups during my tummy time, the arches of my hands become strong. My gym takes me into a world where I learn to interact with the world around me.

Did you workout today? If not then please do … see my workout helps with the development of my brain and strength along with imagination and creativity.

Most of my day to day activities revolve around her and she is my inspiration to start this blog. As a mother, I experimented with a lot of new things for my little one in a quest to find the best for her. I just want to share my experiences of being a happy and content mum.

Ha ha ha. My son is 4.6 and he still loves to play in his infant gym. Miss A sleeping in the gym reminded me of my son doing this so often.

When my nephew gifted my grandson a playgym, I thought he was crazy getting the baby to exercise from such a young age. Then when he opened it out I realised what it actually was and couldn’t thank him enough. It was a great way to keep baby occupied for hours and also helped in focus, reaching, crawling too!
