J is for Juice (Fruit Juice) #A2ZChallenge

Last week I was rather cranky. Even Mommy wondered what happened to me. Everyone was having breakfast and when Mommy could not hear me cry more she decided to make me sit in her lap. Oh my! what a lavish spread they had for breakfast. So many colours, textures and delicious smelling things were laid on the table. Each bite Mommy was taking, I opened my mouth thinking she is giving to me. But, alas! no. I believe that food is still not for me!

I loved the sight of oranges and grapes. I gave obvious signals to Mommy that I want to eat something. But I guess, she did not catch on as she was busy eating. My Nani noticed me watching Mommy intently. Once Mommy was done with breakfast, she carefully put me back in the bassinet.

When she was out of sight Nani, my sweetheart came over and introduced me to the wonderful fruit juices. First, she showed the fruits like orange and grapes to me. Then she got a muslin cloth with a grape in it and put it in my mouth. I started suckling. Oh my! what flavours. It was something different than my usual food. Then next time she gave me orange juice. By now I have tried watermelon, pineapple and even papaya. My favourite is grape juice.

Now each time I see Miss A or someone else eating and orange or grapes, I babble and cackle to gain their attention so that I can get my share. And then finally Nani comes and fulfils my wish πŸ™‚

It is Nani and my little secret. But I guess Mommy also knows – you know you cannot hide anything from her, she is like a magician. She knows everything about everyone. Even if she knows she does not say anything to Nani. Also, Nani is careful not to overdo, lest I have an upset tummy!

I know that a baby as small as me should not be having fruit juice, but there is no harm in having unadulterated half teaspoon full of divine fruit extract.

That’s all from me today. See you again on Monday with my ramblings. Also, if you have not read my previous stories then please catch up on your reading.

Well, about me I can say that I am a certified dentist, healthcare analyst, medical writer and above all a mother of a 6-year-old. Most of my day to day activities revolve around her and she is my inspiration to start this blog. As a mother, I experimented with a lot of new things for my little one in a quest to find the best for her. I just want to share my experiences of being a happy and content mum.

Oh Dear, No ones going to judge you or your nani for this. My boys had dal ka paani when they were only four months. My dadi was adamant and made me give them like two spoonfuls of it everyday.

I had the same issues with my grandchildren. I told my kids that I didn’t follow any of the modern theories on child rearing and they turned out fine ! But I have stood by and watched them do strange things like no honey, no water , no fruit for ALL of a year !
