N is for Nani #A2ZChallenge

A grandmother is a remarkable woman. She’s a wonderful combination of warmth and kindness, laughter and love.

Well, today we have the letter N. When I thought of what to write about, only one thing/ person popped up in my mind … N for NANI. Now don’t be quick to judge me. I love all four grandparents but Nani is the most special of them all.

When I arrived both Nani and Dadi were there to welcome me. Nani used to stay back in the hospital at night and during the day Dadi would be there. When I came home Dadi was there to take care of Mommy and me, but after she left, Nani took over the job of looking after the 3 of us (Mommy, Miss A and me).

I have seen Nani and Miss A together. They have a lot of fun. Together they read, write, paint, recite poems and sing songs. She even makes yummy food for her and is always ready to listen to her. She was the first one to tell Miss A about me.

Each day when Miss A does not want to eat something, Nani tells an amazing story. She turns the boring food into something exciting and in no time Miss A manages to finish her food. She tells us how Mommy was as a baby, what she liked and how similar we are to her.

She loves to play games with us. I know this because every afternoon she makes me fly around like a bird and at times shoots me up towards the ceiling like a rocket. We both enjoy this flying around and when I am tired, she gives me a massage. Then she is quick to call Mommy to feed me and put me to bed. At night when I cry, she often wakes up before Mommy can lift me. The same happens in the morning as well.

These days she has taken total control of the kitchen, so she tosses some really mouthwatering dishes. I am still not allowed to have that food. However, Nani gives me a treat or two every now and then. She introduced me to so many delicious fresh fruit juices.

Did I ever mention that Nani is very creative! She can make anything and everything. She has stitched frocks for me and Miss A. Trust me those are really comfortable. She can make anything out of waste. Whenever she collects waste, Mommy is always grumbling. However, Nani uses it very creatively… best out of waste.

Nani gets very cute things for us. Recently, for Miss A, she got an umbrella with a doll figurine. When Miss A opened the umbrella, it became the gown of the doll! Both of us love it. Agree, I cannot play with it right now but I enjoy watching Miss A.  All her time spent with her fancy toys has made me pretty sure that once I grow up, Nani will get such toys for me too.

Well, about me I can say that I am a certified dentist, healthcare analyst, medical writer and above all a mother of a 6-year-old. Most of my day to day activities revolve around her and she is my inspiration to start this blog. As a mother, I experimented with a lot of new things for my little one in a quest to find the best for her. I just want to share my experiences of being a happy and content mum.

Unfortunately, my son didn’t have the luck to be blessed by his Nani since Ma passed away much before he was born. Lovely post.

Nanis are the best. I was unfortunate to not have known my Dadi. So my Nani had to fulfill both the roles. We have a great bond. Such a cute post.
