”Having a sister is like having a best friend you can’t get rid of. You know whatever you do, they’ll still be there.” — Amy Li
For a very long time, Miss A was the only child. Seeing her friends with siblings she started praying for me. She even wrote an early letter to Santa, asking him to deliver her a sibling and guess what, her wish was granted… as her Christmas gift, that is, ME arrived … only 23 days earlier. Well, she had to wait long and be a pretty good girl for Santa to fulfil this wish of hers.
The very first moment I saw Miss A, I instantly fell in love with her, and let me tell you this! the feeling was mutual. Her big brown eyes had loads of love for me. She is my best friend till now, however, something tells me she is going to be my best buddy forever. I know when I grow up I will have friends but Miss A is going to be the best of them all.
Miss A always seems to know what I am going through. There are times when Mommy misses my signals, but Miss A is quick to catch them. She runs up to Mommy and tells her that maybe I need to be burped. Usually, when Mommy is busy, Miss A gives me a ride in the pram. She also sings to me and often asks Alexa to play my favourite songs as per my moods. Most of the times I do go off to sleep. As I am an early riser, I like to snuggle close to Miss A, where I can touch the pandas on her night suit and pull her hair.
Having Miss A around is like having a second mother. These days her confidence levels have really gone up high. When Mommy or Nani are not around or busy, she picks me up when I cry. She has also started helping me to burp. Whenever I see her my face too brightens up. None the less, she also gets irritated when I pull her hair a bit too hard or longer. You see she does not like anyone to disturb her while she is sleeping!
Since Miss A is older to me, she has a lot of knowledge and experience. The first time I was scheduled for a vaccination, before going to school she quietly snuggled up to me and whispered in my ear. She said, “Mommy and Papa will say we are going for a long drive but they will take you for the vaccination. Be brave don’t cry.” Indeed she was right they said that we are going for a ride but I landed at the hospital.
We even have our own secret form of communication. All I have to do is give sweet smiles to her and the two of us start laughing. Many a time we just do all the talking through our eyes. It is these little interactions which makes our bond even stronger. Every milestone I reach, Miss A is pretty excited about it, after all, she is my very own personal trainer. She starts cheering me and wants to journal it for me in my baby record book.
Sometimes I may irritate Miss A, but at the end of the day, I know that she is always going to be there for me. No matter what, she will never let me feel lonely. She has got my back and will always be MY PERSON!
Do you have a sibling? If yes, I would love to know about your relationship with them.
