The Impact Academy #WriteBravely

“The people who influence you are the people who beleive in you.” – Henry Drummond

Sneha woke up with a big smile this morning. Today was the day when her dream was going to become a reality. She had worked very hard for this. Quickly she jumped out of the bed and dashed to the bathroom. She was out in less than 15 mins. She took out the red dress that she had saved for a special occasion. She quickly put on her dress, makeup and her favourite pair of danglers. These danglers were very special and they always reminded Sneha of her. Once she was ready she left for the academy.

On her way to the Impact Academy, she stopped near a building and walked down its hallway. It was here that Sneha had met her for the first time. Today she had to come here and she could not help rolling back in her past.

Sneha had grown up in an orphanage. She always felt that no one loved her and that her mother deserted her. Despite her insecurities, she was a bright girl. She had a dream of opening a school for girls who were not wanted by their parents just like her. Since she was good at whatever she did she was always noticed by her teachers. It was her last board exam and Mrs Sharma, the Principal of the school where she was studying offered her a part-time job.

A week after her exam she joined the school. She was an assistant to Mrs Sharma. So whenever she went for meetings she would always call Sneha. In most of the meetings, Sneha would always be pointed at by others to get tea for everyone. In one such meeting, she got up on her own to bring tea for everyone. As she slowly stood up, Mrs Sharma, asked her where she was going. Sneha was surprised because until now she had never asked. Mrs Sharma told her sternly, ” This is the last time you are going to arrange tea for everyone because you are going to college.”

Sneha was confused. Later Mrs Sharma called Sneha to her office. She told her that she is worth more than just serving tea to a bunch of people. She had always seen her hard work and a desire to make it big. In one of their conversation, she had come to know about Sneha’s dream. Mrs Sharma had full faith in her and wanted Sneha to fly. She filled in her college form quietly and because Sneha was an ace student she got selected. And Mrs Sharma never put in a word of recommendation for her. So it was because of her capabilities that Sneha got an admission.

After completing her graduation, Sneha expressed a desire to work with Mrs Sharma. To this Mrs Sharma, politely told her that she was gifted to do something big. She is very dear to her and can come back whenever she wants to but she should first try to accomplish her dream. She gifted Sneha a pair of danglers. She told her, “whenever you miss me just look at these danglers and you will feel I am around you.”

Sneha was still reeling in her past when she felt a hand on her shoulder. It was Mrs Sharma, the person who Sneha had loved and worshipped. After all, Mrs Sharma was a pivotal person in Sneha’s life and she had influenced her deeply. Today Sneha’s dream of opening a school had come true. She was here to take Mrs Sharma to the Impact Academy with her as she was the chief guest.

They held each other’s hand and with tears in their eyes spoke a thousand words which otherwise words could have never expressed. It was Mrs Sharma’s belief and influence that made Sneha fulfil what she wanted.

Well, about me I can say that I am a certified dentist, healthcare analyst, medical writer and above all a mother of a 6-year-old. Most of my day to day activities revolve around her and she is my inspiration to start this blog. As a mother, I experimented with a lot of new things for my little one in a quest to find the best for her. I just want to share my experiences of being a happy and content mum.
