February Diaries #Gratitude

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” – Leo Buscaglia

February the shortest month of the year was rather kind to me in comparison of January. Like February, this time my gratitude post is also a short one.

After a rather depressing January, I had made a promise to myself that my new year would begin from February. So in a bid to start on a positive note, the first thing I did was to make changes in my lifestyle and health. I made a few changes to my diet. I walked on a road to health. Made a promise to eat clean. Clean eating helps to lose weight but at the same time, the energy levels are high along with improved sleep quality.

I stopped yelling at my daughter and spent more time with her rather than brooding in a closed dark room. This has strengthened our relationship further. We enjoyed many evenings in our balcony, the best being the night when the Ferris wheel was in full swing. We got back to our painting and other creative stuff.

This month I also completed a decade of togetherness with my husband. Though ten years is a long time it still felt as though the time just flew by. In these ten years, we have become stronger and I am thankful that I have found a friend in him who willingly absorbs my negative and positive aspects. I am thankful for the people in my life who called us on our anniversary. This shows so many people care about us.

“A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person.” – Mignon McLaughlin, Journalist

I tried to get back to my reading but was unsuccessful. I have 2-3 books lying on my bedside table which need to be finished. I have started all of them simultaneously and now am kind of getting stuck here and there 🙂 This month my writing was fine, not that great but also not that I regret.

With a good start to February, and with the onset of March, I hope March is as good as the last month.

Well, about me I can say that I am a certified dentist, healthcare analyst, medical writer and above all a mother of a 6-year-old. Most of my day to day activities revolve around her and she is my inspiration to start this blog. As a mother, I experimented with a lot of new things for my little one in a quest to find the best for her. I just want to share my experiences of being a happy and content mum.

Hi Shubhra. Good to hear you are determined to walk in the way of happiness! I wish you good luck. Being immersed in creative stuff like painting, sketching etc. is the highest form of relaxation we can give to our mind and body. And you are doing just that. Best wishes on your belated anniversary. There seems to be many wedding anniversaries celebrated from the Gratitude circle group in Feb. 🙂 Enjoy marching in March.
