Dads are hardworking, selfless, caring and loving but the alpha dads are there in the times of laughter, tears and dirty diapers…
Today on Father’s Day while wishing my father and earlier my husband, my little one was most eager to know why I was doing so! And she said to me, ” Today is neither Nanu’s nor Papa’s birthday so why are u wishing them?”
Now I have had this vast task of explaining as to why I was wishing them “Happy Fathers Day”… I told her that when I was her age my father hardly had any time as all the time he was busy with his work (he being a doctor had to attend to the patients even late in the evening) and I hardly got to be with or even see him – not as her father does!!! He drops her to school, willingly goes to meet her teachers at school, so often takes her out for outings, a lunch/ dinner or just taking care of her when Mommy is busy cooking, shopping or at work!
She did seem to realize as she has been seeing her uncles changing diapers, feeding their little ones singing lullabies and even taking their babies for long stroller-walks right from the time their kids were born.
Today she realizes how on returning home after a long and tiring day, her father willingly and smilingly listens to her woes of the day, has apt answers for all her silly questions and even sings her favorite songs…. only to entertain her make her happy and to spend quality time with her. He too finds some of his daughter’s activities interesting and very relaxing. He has especially taken lessons in swimming and today proudly guides his daughter in the pool. She just loves going out with him as most of her wishes and desires are also willingly fulfilled!!!
The latest desire is to ride a bicycle and she thinks that only her father is capable of teaching her this. She has seen with great interest how her friend’s fathers teach their children to ride a bicycle, play football/ badminton and other games (all in the park). These are older children but the picture is there, clearly set in her mind.
GONE are the days when changing nappies and holding the baby was thought to be unmanly and only a part of the woman’s domain. Today’s Dads are good partners who not only take care of their work, the children and the house but also manage to help their spouse’s in and around the house.
Today the young fathers do not shy away from taking their kids for extreme outdoor activities because this spirit of adventure results in long-lasting bonding memories of the super times spent together with THE DAD!!! And may FATHERHOOD— the latest BADGE of PRIDE lead the kids to believe that MOM’s not just the world for them! Or believe that the world doesn’t come to a stop when the MOMMY is not around!
Enjoy and recollect with long-lasting bonding memories of a Happy 2016 Father’s Day!!!
And this one is for all the super dads including mine 🙂
